What is a periodontist?

A periodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases that affect the gums and the structures that support the teeth. Periodontists are adept at using the latest techniques and technology to diagnose and treat periodontal disease, perform cosmetic periodontal procedures, and place dental implants.

After completing four years of dental school, periodontists must complete an extra three or more years of specialty postgraduate training through a hospital or university-based program accredited by the American Dental Association.

Dr. Madigan excelled in an intensive three-year postgraduate periodontal residency, in addition to completing a multi-faceted two-year postgraduate residency in private practice and hospital dentistry. Dr. Madigan’s extensive and specialized knowledge of periodontistry and general practice dentistry, coupled with his diverse dental and periodontal experience, are a perfect complement to his exceptional patient care and genuine chairside manner.

Dr. Madigan and his team specialize in prevention and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease, gingival (gum) recession, dental implants, cosmetic dental surgery (gum lift) and bone regeneration. They are on the cutting edge of the newest and best technology in dentistry.
